“New Generation of Sun Protection” at AAD Annual Meeting.


DCL Scientists Combine Micronized Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide to Create an Elegant, Chem-Free SPF 30 with a Broad Range of UVA/UVB Protection.

EAST HAVEN, CT – Dermatologic Cosmetic Laboratories introduced their much-awaited UVA/UVB Chemfree Superblock SPF 30 at the annual Winter meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in New Orleans.

UVA/UVB Chemfree Superblock SPF 30 is an advanced formulation, developed by DCL scientists, that utilizes cutting edge sun protection technology. The very water resistant formula combines the distinctive and complementary UVA/UVB reflecting capabilities of micronized Titanium Dioxide with those of zinc oxide (Z-Cote®) to create a sunscreen that protects skin from a complete range of harmful UV rays.

The use of highly refined, micronized ingredients provides more even and complete skin coverage and allows the product to spread easily onto the skin and dry quickly without the whitening and heavy coating previously associated with high-performance chemical-free sunscreens.

“We were determined to create a chemical-free SPF 30 that would be imperceptible on the skin,” stated Scott Whittier, Director of Scientific Marketing for Dermatologic Cosmetic Laboratories. “By micronizing Titanium Dioxide, thus incorporating small particle powders, we’ve achieved a high SPF level in a formulation that is very comfortable on the skin, without the odor and textural issues associated with chemical sunscreens.”

Another key ingredient, Squalane, provides light moisturization and ensures proper hydration, which helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
